In the heart of the Monferrato, which has always been a great winemaking area and was recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands the Michele Chiarlo winery. Four generations of wine producers, four production areas (Barolo, Barbaresco, Asti and Gavi) for the four classic grape varieties of Piedmont (Nebbiolo, Cortese, Barbera and Moscato), vinified in four different styles. The entire winery can be visited, from the fermentation room to the ageing area, giving a comprehensive picture of the wine production process. Visits can be accompanied by a tasting session covering all the wines. In addition to pure wine production, the Michele Chiarlo winery presents “Arte e Vino”, hosting exhibitions of art that alternate between various fields, from sculpture to photography. Very close to the winery is the open-air Parco Artistico, a permanent art exhibition among the rows of vines; outdoor tastings are organised in summer, so that visitors can enjoy the delights of Monferrato with the palate as well as the eyes.
