Il “Botolo” is rooted in tradition and passion, with a focus on the environment. The farm is located on the hills, in the heart of the wine-growing area of Piedmont Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, recognised in 2014 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The company was founded in 2007 by Roberto de Silva, a renowned entrepreneur from Monferrato, who combined his dream of creating excellent wines with his love for the territory and its culture. Today his wife Diana de Silva Bracco, entrepreneur and philanthropist, continues to guide this precious company towards product and production excellence with commitment and love. All the wines are signed Roberto and Diana de Silva. Il Botolo takes its name from the little dog who lives on the estate.
Il Botolo wines, cultivated in some of the most prestigious Piedmontese terroirs, are an authentic expression of the unique territory of Monferrato in which they find themselves. The harvest, carried out strictly by hand to guarantee quality and respect for the vineyards, results in the collection of 130 tons of grapes per year, that give life to about 120,000 bottles.
The aim is to produce white wines with a delicious fruity bouquet and red wines that are intense, elegant and velvety. The selection of fresh and fruity white wines includes a cheerful Moscato d’Asti DOCG and a Chardonnay Piemonte DOC with a crisp fragrance. Barbera, the true queen of Piedmont, rules over the red wines. A grape variety that finds its maximum qualitative expression in the terroirs of Monferrato, and that Il Botolo proposes in three different versions, all strictly 100% Barbera: a Barbera d’Asti DOCG, a Barbera d’Asti DOCG Superiore and a Nizza DOCG.
