Azienda Agricola Panizzari was founded in San Colombano al Lambro (Milan), at the end of the nineteenth century, thanks to grandfather Angelo's love for wine and for ancient rural traditions. Over the years, his son Giovanni Battista and, later, his grandson have strengthened the production with qualified research and considerable vineyard developments, following strictly artisan processing methods that determine the high quality of the products. To this day, the Panizzari family's relationship with its customers continues to be direct, in order to fully satisfy their needs and steadily improve production.
In contrast with the wine world, the company prefers to maintain its historical roots. In fact, the largest production (about 65%) is from Barbera, Croatina and Uva Rara vines, destined to become components of the San Colombano DOC Red. For white grapes the biggest production comes from the Verdea vine, a native variety only processed in San Colombano; the other grapes produced in the vineyards are: Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malvasia di Candia, Riesling, Chardonnay and Trebbiano. The entire winemaking process is carried out using cutting-edge technologies to better respect the grapes. Grape picking is carried out strictly by hand so as not to alter the fruit and guarantee a high quality final product. The characteristic lands and soil of San Colombano are very rough yet rich in mineral salts, which give the wine a wonderful flavour and an alcohol content that commands respect. Currently the company manages 30 hectares of vineyard cultivated land with an average annual production of 300,000 bottles.
