Agricoopecetto is an agricultural cooperative founded in 2010 by a group of friends. Emanuele, Renato and Elena, three young agricultural entrepreneurs from Pecetto Torinese, whose companies sit a few dozen meters away from each other, came up with the idea of creating a direct sales point and a modern processing laboratory, in order to expand their range of products and services to their customers and to the local community. After only a year the members grew to ten, a Nigerian woman, a victim of trafficking, was hired and the first work grants were activated for children with intellectual disabilities and mental suffering. In 2011, the attention paid to "social" aspects, the multi-functional way of doing business and the ability to involve agricultural entrepreneurs who are sensitive to the issue of environmental and social sustainability, was awarded the First National "Oscar Green" Award in the "In - Generation” category, by Coldiretti Giovane Impresa.
Between 2010 and 2016, the cooperative updated its processing lab by creating a range of certified organic products that includes jams, compotes, nectars, sauces, oil preserves, pickles and canned fruit, which are also produced on behalf of third parties. It continues to experiment with innovative paths of community agriculture for the work and social inclusion of disadvantaged people (asylum seekers, recovering addicts, transgender people, young people with physical or intellectual disabilities and, above all, people suffering with mental distress). Over the years, it has received various awards and national recognition in its field (DEA@TERRA Award 2012 organized by the Italian Ministry of Agricultural Policies; outstanding enterprise at the Cernobbio XIII International Forum on Agriculture in 2013; first prize in the Social Agriculture category at the "Etich Award 2013" held by AiCare; honourable mention at the 2013 Il sole 24 Ore - Retail Award in the area of "sustainability"; ranked among the 100 best Italian companies on the "welfare index PMI" scale sponsored by Generali; case study presented to the Agriculture Commission for the drafting of the law on social agriculture established in 2015; selected by ISFOL for a survey on social agriculture promoted by the Ministry of Labor etc). Master of Taste in the Province of Turin since 2014, the cooperative chose, in 2017, to devote itself completely to the direct and wholesale marketing of products provided by the members and to product processing, expanding the ethical tomato sauce processing line and developing a specific line dedicated to Pecetto cherries (PAT and Typical Product of the Province of Turin)
