This Aglianico DOC special reserve wine takes its name from Drogone, the first of the Altavilla lineage. The Benedictine abbey of the SS Trinità di Venosa formed a strong bond with the family, as a religious, economic and wine-making reference point for the Norman territories in southern Italy. A majestic and complex wine, characterised by long ageing, allowing it to express itself with extraordinary harmony. Its longevity is outstanding, its limited production is reserved for the best vintages.
Wine growing and making: 50-year-old vineyard in the Liscone district on volcanic soil. Manual harvesting with selection of grapes. After long maceration, the wine is aged in French oak tonneaux for at least 24 months. Left to age in the bottle for at least a year.
Behind every Madonna delle Grazie wine lies a story of hard manual labour, fatigue and passion.
