In 1957, Francesco Fezzigna founded his farm on a strip of land called Caraconessa, located 100 meters above sea level between Umbriatico and Cirò, an ideal place to grow wine. In this valley surrounded on three sides by the rivers Lipuda and Quadrotto, 18 km from Cirò Marina, and 11 km from Umbriatico, the land is rich in mineral sandstone salts which give the high quality indigenous grapes unique characteristics, also thanks to thermal shock (which can reach up to 20 degrees) between night and day. In 2015, after three generations of winegrowers had passed down their experience, knowledge and passion, the company began to process the grapes directly, and became the first, and currently the only, winery in Alto Marchesato Crotonese that manages every single phase of production itself, from vine cultivation to bottling the wines, as well as being certified ORGANIC and a Melissa DOC. The profound dedication to work, continuous pursuit of quality and attention to every single detail are typical of an artisanal production system that makes it possible to produce red, white and rosé wines, all of which are certified Calabria IGP and Melissa DOC, that best represent the territory's wine-growing traditions. The Company currently has 4 hectares of vineyards, all of which are located on the same plot of land as the winery, a true 0 Km journey for all stages of processing. The company started with a small number of bottles, in fact in 2015 they bottled 6,000 bottles and in 2016 800 bottles, of four different varieties: Melissa DOC red; Calabri IGT red; Calabria IGT rosé; Calabria IGT white.
