In 1881 Friedrich Rechsteiner took over the estate at Piavon di Oderzo from the Revedin Counts, as well as a beautiful 17th century villa which originally belonged to the Bonamico family. Thus began the story of Rechsteiner Winery, run today by a direct descendant of the founder: Baron Florian von Stepski-Doliwa, respectively grandson and great-grandson of Friedrich's younger daughter, who married a Stepski.
In accordance with tradition, but with the help of modern technology, wine is currently made at the Rechsteiner winery using grapes exclusively from the 45 hectares of family vineyards. The core of the company is presently spread over an area of more than 4 hectares, in a prestigious historic, architectural and environmental setting.
Visitors can perceive the fascinating family history along a path that begins in the farm courtyard, continues among the centuries-old trees of the park and the vines of the new educational vineyard and ends in the ancient barrel store of the 17th century cellar. There guests can taste wines accompanied by delicacies produced in loco. At the farmhouse (4 km away and part of the same property), guests can have lunch and dinner or spend the night in one of the 10 double rooms, furnished, in part, with antique furniture belonging to the family.
